Red Sox will Retire Wade Boggs' #26 on May 26th, 2016

Red Sox great, Wade Boggs, will have his number 26 retired on Thursday, May 26th, 2016 at Fenway Park. Fans will remember Boggs for his 3,000+ hits, .328 batting average and great fielding at 3rd base for 18 years in the MLB. His number will be retired with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park where he spent the first 11 years of his major league career. Boggs also split the rest of his year in the American League East with the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays.

The Red Sox will be hosting the Colorado Rockies on 5/26/2016 for Wade Boggs' number retirement ceremony. Fans can buy tickets for the game on 5/26 to see firsthand the revealing of number 26 on the Right Field wall. Tickets are on sale now for the 5/26/2016 Red Sox vs Rockies game at Fenway Park. Boggs' number has already been retired with the Tampa Bay Rays, despite only playing 2 seasons with the Rays, then known as the Devil Rays. The number 26 is currently worn by Brock Holt of the Red Sox, however, plans are in place for Holt to switch to number 12.
